🏦 Grupo Wamos completed a third repayment of €67.4 million plus interest to Sepi, following partial repayments of €9.6 million in July and €8 million in December 2023. The Grupo Abra acquired Wamos Air, maintaining its brand and team post-CNMC approval in August, after a deal in May. A portfolio of nine 4-star Silken Hoteles in Spain, with over 1,600 rooms, is up for sale between €240-250 million by Pygmalion and CBRE Investment Management.

🏨 Mercure Hotels opened its 1,000th establishment, a significant milestone since its inception in 1973. Key openings contributing to this number include Mercure London Earls Court, UK; Mercure Chandigarh Tribune Chowk, India; Mercure Fukuoka Munakata Resort & Spa, Japan; Mercure Marival Emotions Resort, Mexico; and Mercure Nantong Renmin Road, China. The brand has expanded notably in China with 30 new hotels in 2023, 9 in August alone, and doubled its presence in Japan with 11 new Mercure openings in April. Mercure celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023, emphasizing its commitment to "local discovery" with over 1,000 hotels in 68 countries. Interesting new openings include the first hotel in Albania in March, the world's largest Mercure in Singapore with 989 rooms, and the Mercure London Earls Court in July.

🏡 Marriott International partners with FibraHotel, Fibra Danhos, and Beyond Ventures for the return of The Ritz-Carlton brand to Cancún, a destination with approximately 30 million annual visitors. The luxury hotel and branded residences, named The Ritz-Carlton, Cancún, Punta Nizuc, are set to open in 2027, 10 minutes from the airport on an exclusive peninsula with a private coastline. The LEED-certified project will feature a 131-room seaside resort and 126 ultra-luxury residences, with amenities including seafront pools, a luxury spa, and six restaurants.

🎾 Rafa Nadal invested over 10 million euros in two Mexican hotels in 2013 and later partnered with AMResorts. He co-founded the restaurant chain Tatel with Pau Gasol and Enrique Iglesias in 2015. The Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre was launched in 2018 at TRS Coral Hotel, followed by a second center in Greece in 2019 at the Sani Resort with eight clay courts. In December 2022, Nadal and Meliá Hotels International created Zel Hotels, a 50% joint-ownership luxury brand. Zel currently has two hotels, with plans for more than 20 in five years across Europe, America, the Middle East, and Asia. The brand's expansion includes Zel Punta Cana, Zel Gran Vía, and Zel Sayulita by 2025, and a new location in Albania by summer 2026. Additionally, Nadal's personal project, the Rafa Nadal Sports Centre, offers a comprehensive sporting experience at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar.

🏙 Grupo Piñero to open a 5-star hotel with 605 rooms in Cabo Verde, generating over 500 direct jobs and many indirect ones. CEO Global Encarna Piñero announced the signing at BFI Bank HQ in Praia this Thursday. The project is part of a strategy to evolve the business model, enhance Bahía Príncipe Hotels & Resorts brand, and expand the portfolio. This expansion into new markets like Cabo Verde leverages local alliances and resources while focusing on hotel management and customer experience.

🏨 Room00 Casa Gracia, located on Paseo de Gracia, will be Room00 Hostels & Hotels' largest hostel with 146 rooms and 600 beds. CEO Ignacio Requena announced updates including a specialty coffee shop, restaurant, terrace area, cocktail bar, private lounges, and coworking space. As part of their expansion plan, Room00 aims for 6 venues in Barcelona within 24 months, aiming to end the semester with 13 new openings and 630 new rooms.

🏖️ Minor Hotels and Ares Management announced NH Collection's debut at UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Baa Atoll, Maldives by Q4 2025, transforming Reethi Beach Resort. The resort has 129 rooms, located 35 minutes by seaplane from Velana International Airport in Malé, and will feature 10 dining options. Renovations mark the most significant change in 25 years; it will close on April 25, 2025, for six months. The NH Collection Maldives Reethi Resort will reopen, offering beach and overwater villas, a variety of activities, and focusing on sustainability.

🏡 A 15th-century palace in the province of Segovia, Spain, will be transformed into a 5-star hotel. Users have a free access option by accepting cookies. 🏨 Sheraton, under Marriott International, expands in Madrid with a new 10,000 square meter, 14-story hotel featuring 200 rooms, a swimming pool, gym, and meeting rooms. Present in Spain through Fuerteventura and Mallorca, Sheraton joins other international brands. ACHM Hotels by Marriott, led by Antonio Catalán, aims to be the top manager of Marriott's 30+ brands in Europe and plans to invest €100 million in 10 hotels this year. ACHM currently manages over 70 hotels including Luxury Collection and Westin in Spain, Italy, and Portugal.

🏖 Mundiplan launched its senior tourism program on September 12, offering over 100,000 spots across national and international destinations. The company, consisting of Iberia, IAG7, and Alsa, saw a 20% increase in its second season. Senior travelers aged 55+ have a selection from 38 hotels in five autonomous communities, including 8 hotels in Benidorm, Alicante. These establishments, not available through the Imserso program, range from 3 to 4 stars.
