📍 Riu Hotels & Resorts has opened its first hotel in Canada, the Riu Plaza Toronto, a 4-star venue with 352 rooms. Located in Toronto's Entertainment District, it occupies 23 floors of a twin tower complex, which are 49 stories each. The hotel stands at 30 Widmer Street, featuring a blend of historic brick and modern glass facade. This new location is the 12th in Riu's urban line, alongside hotels in cities like New York, Berlin, and London.

🏨 Caramelo Hotels will launch a third premium adult-only hotel, Caramelo Calviá Beach, in Mallorca by May 2026. The hotel, currently known as Cooks Calviá Beach, will close on October 22, 2023, for renovations. Featuring 211 rooms with sea views, it maintains services like a buffet breakfast and a gym. Caramelo Hotels already has two other locations in the Balearic Islands: Caramelo Palma Beach opened in March 2023, and Caramelo Marina Cala’n Bosch followed in Menorca.

🏨 Barceló CEO Raúl González projects a slowdown in tourism demand after two years of record growth. Summer occupancy in 2025 in regions like Baleares and Andalucía is expected to be lower than pre-pandemic levels. Barceló plans to invest €400-€500 million annually, aiming for at least 20 new openings per year. Revenue, EBITDA, and net income are projected to grow modestly. Despite slowing demand, prices will rise due to discrepancies with markets like France and Italy.

🏨 Tui and Omran Group, the tourism development agency of Oman, signed a long-term strategic alliance to build and manage five hotels in Dhofar, opening from winter 2028. Oman gains a 1.4% stake in Tui through the purchase of new shares at €9.50 each, with a three-year lock-up. The joint venture's ownership: 45% Omran, 45% Tui, 10% private investor. Sebastian Ebel of Tui emphasized the project's focus on quality and sustainability.

💻 Pangea plans to expand by opening 70 new stores in Spain, targeting 90 locations by 2029. By the end of 2025, the company aims to recruit over 200 travel agents, focusing on flexible hours, career growth, and salaries between €35,000-€60,000. In 2025, Pangea saw a 40% sales increase and 60% boost in travelers, opening 16 new Spanish stores and expanding to Mexico with two agencies in Mexico City. Currently, it operates 20 Spanish and 2 Mexican offices.

🏨 Checkin Hotel Group will open its first hotel in San Sebastián, Spain, in spring 2026. The DWO Donosti Hotel, located in Martutene, will feature 78 rooms, a breakfast buffet, a bar-cafeteria, and indoor parking. The group recently opened two 3-star hotels in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and has added 10 new venues in 2023, strengthening its presence in the Costa del Sol, La Rioja, La Manga del Mar Menor, Granada, Tenerife, and Lanzarote.

🏨 METT Barcelona, a new 5-star GL hotel, joins Sunset Hospitality Group's portfolio, enhancing luxury tourism in the city. Located in Barcelona, the hotel creates 80 direct jobs and boosts local suppliers in gastronomy and design. Catering to high-net-worth international markets like the UK, France, Germany, the US, and the Middle East, it positions Barcelona as a premium destination. Facilities include a Valmont Red Carpet Spa, fitness center, and multiple dining options. Meeting rooms accommodate up to 80 guests.

🗺️ Meliá Hotels International adds a new hotel in Salta, Argentina, to its portfolio. Starting October, the 167-room Hotel Alejandro I will operate under the Affiliated by Meliá brand. Located centrally, near Plaza 9 de Julio and key historic sites, it offers a restaurant, bar, spa, gym, MICE spaces, and parking. Just 10 km from Martín Miguel de Güemes International Airport, this expansion is part of Meliá's growth strategy in Argentina, led by CEO Gabriel Escarrer.

🏨 Hilton opened the Palacio de Godoy Cáceres, Curio Collection by Hilton, in Cáceres, Spain, marking its debut in Extremadura. This $14M investment transformed a palace built in 1563 into a 73-room hotel with event halls and a spa. The project, developed by SCIPION Real Estate and managed by Panoram Hotel Management, created 60 jobs. The hotel's restaurant, Mamay Aldana, led by chef Antonio Manuel Céspedes Rodríguez, honors local culture and history.

🏨 VP Hoteles will debut hotel management in March 2026 in Menorca with a 5-star luxury hotel owned by a U.S. investor. Currently, they have five properties in Madrid. The new division, SD Facilities & Management, plans to open another hotel by 2028. The group anticipates a revenue of €42 million in 2025, with VP Hoteles contributing €34 million (18-20% increase) and Ginkgo Restaurants €8 million. Net profit is expected to rise by 10% from €3 million in 2024.
