El crecimiento internacional de las cadenas españolas en 25 segundos

🏛 Spanish hotel chains have expanded globally, adding over 70,600 rooms from 2013 to 2024, totaling 279,228 rooms internationally, with Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Cuba as top countries for expansion. Meliá Hotels International leads with 14,252 rooms in Cuba. Eurostars Hotel Company grew from 4,527 to 8,670 rooms in the same period. H10 Hotels nearly doubled its rooms from 2,908 to 5,328. Conversely, Be Live Hotels decreased from 9,498 rooms at its peak in 2022 to 867 rooms by 2024 due to a management deal with Hyatt. Bluebay Hotels also reduced its presence after an agreement with W2M.

Treguer Collection abre un hotel boutique en el Puerto de Sóller

🏖️ Treguer Collection has transformed the 1-star Hotel Citric into Salino Port, a 4-star superior hotel in Puerto de Sóller, Mallorca. Salino Port, with 42 sea-view rooms, spans 3,609.73 square meters and features a spa area, pool, gym, and an adults-only policy (+16) operating from March to November. Room sizes range from 25 to 40 square meters. The company, founded by Rafael Balaguer Mestre and Jaume Alomar Garau, specializes in boutique hotels, restaurants, and beach clubs in Mallorca.

Artiem hace balance de los cinco años de su Habitación Solidaria

💸 Artiem's "Habitación Solidaria" project, launched in June 2020, celebrates its fifth anniversary. The initiative donates 100% of booking income from each solidarity room across its five hotels in Menorca, Asturias, and Madrid, nearing a total of €400,000 raised. In December 2021, Artiem partnered with the Madrid Hotel Business Association (AEHM) to expand its reach, allowing any Spanish hotel to join the initiative. The project contributes to social responsibility by assisting vulnerable families, promoting sustainable prosperity, and encouraging a fair and inclusive tourism industry. Artiem is the first European hotel chain to earn the B Corp certification, cementing its commitment to a positive impact on both people and the planet.

Airbnb desvelará sus nuevos negocios tras invertir 250 millones de dólares

Projections for Q2 2025 estimate revenues between $2.99 and $3.05 billion, a 9-11% growth from 2024. Airbnb plans to reveal its "more than accommodations" strategy on May 13th, with investments of $200-250 million in new growth initiatives for 2025. Over the past years, the app has been rebuilt on new technological architecture to support expansion, and since 2023, over 450,000 low-quality listings have been removed.

PortAventura: 30 años impulsando la desestacionalización en Costa Daurada

🎭 PortAventura World celebrated its 30th anniversary on May 1st, marking over 100 million visitors since opening. Located in Salou and Vila-seca (Tarragona), the resort, second only to Disneyland Paris in Europe, boasts over 70 attractions, 10 hotels, and is open more than 300 days annually. The strike planned for the May holiday was called off after a last-minute labor agreement. The resort, which opened on May 1, 1995, now includes PortAventura Park, Caribe Aquatic Park, Ferrari Land, 3,000 hotel rooms, and a convention center for 6,000 people. Key dates include the 2002 opening of Hotel PortAventura and Caribe Aquatic Park, 2017's Ferrari Land, and 2023's new attraction Uncharted. 50% of visitors are international, staying an average of two days, and the resort creates 24,000 direct and indirect jobs annually, representing 0.5% of Catalonia's GDP.

Liverpool aplicará desde junio una tasa turística de más de dos euros

🏙 Liverpool, starting June, will impose a £2 (€2.40) tourist tax per overnight stay. The decision was made by the 83 city hotels, represented by Liverpool BID Company. The tax is expected to generate £9.2 million (€10.78 million) over two years, with £6.7 million (€7.85 million) funding a grant for the city’s tourism economy. The measure follows similar initiatives in Manchester and Edinburgh, aiming to boost the local economy and tourism. Hotels will manage the charge, payable upon guests' arrival or departure, and it could create a total economic impact of £220 million (€257.72 million).

El Govern balear pide que AENA limite los vuelos en temporada alta

📍 Govern Balear suggests the central government orders AENA to cap summer flights to Balearic Islands airports, claiming the limit has been reached and regulation is necessary. Spokesperson Antoni Costa stated "no conviene aumentar la capacidad en temporada alta" during a press conference on May 2, 2025.
