🏖️ España hit a record in 2024, surpassing 100 million foreign tourists, as reported by INE using mobile phone signals, 7 million more than the Frontur survey indicates. Viajes El Corte Inglés (VECI) reduces layoffs to 35 at its Tourmundial operator, effective until February 2026, with no geographical mobility or effect on the Operations department, and protections for vulnerable groups. Barcelona doubles its tourist tax to 12.1 euros per night, with hotelier associations Confecat, ACAVE, and CEHAT opposing the increase, which they argue will make Barcelona's tourist tax the highest in Europe. Since 2012, Catalonia has collected 580 million euros from this tax.
