🏨 Sidetours Incoming Services became the exclusive representative of Eurowings Holidays in the Balearic Islands, Iberian Peninsula, and Portugal. The Lufthansa Group tour operator, amid international expansion, trusts Sidetours, led by Bernardo Quetglas, to grow in both countries. Eurowings operates over 100 destinations in more than 50 countries with a 100-aircraft fleet, offering 440 weekly flights to Mallorca in high season, making it a leader in direct European connections.

🏖 On April 23, Spain's National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) approved the acquisition of Meeting Point Spain, owned by FTI Touristik, by Bluesea Hotels. Meeting Point's portfolio includes 15 hotels with 1,922 rooms across the Canary Islands—Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura—employing about 1,500 workers. Following the group's bankruptcy, the administrator sought buyers while maintaining lease contracts. Bluesea assumes the restructuring debt and injects capital, supported by its main shareholder, Portobello Capital (93.5%), and its recent refusal of a €25 million aid from SEPI. With this purchase, Bluesea's room count nears 7,000, strengthening its presence in the Canaries with over 3,800 rooms.

🚀 22 airlines globally acquired 496 Airbus A321XLRs, with 463 for airlines and 33 for leasing companies AerCap, Boc Aviation, Air Lease Corporation, and Aviation Capital Group. IndiGo leads with 69 orders, followed by United and American Airlines with 50 each, and Wizz Air with 47. Iberia and Aer Lingus received the first units, with 8 and 6 orders respectively. The A321XLR offers a range of up to 4,700 nautical miles (8,700 kilometers) and is 30% more fuel-efficient per seat than previous generation aircraft.

🛫 China's three major state-owned airlines—Air China, China Eastern, and China Southern—reported increased losses in the first quarter of 2025, continuing a five-year streak of financial downturns since before COVID-19. Air China lost $281 million, 22% more than the previous year; China Southern lost $102 million; and China Eastern lost $140 million, a 24% increase from the previous year. Tariff issues with the U.S. in April were cited, but the relevance to prior months is unclear. The airlines are now reducing domestic seat offerings to favor international flights.

🏠 Finca Mallorca, established in 1994, manages approximately 200 properties. Its accommodations will continue to be available on its portal and will also be featured on Holidu and 27 partner platforms. Johannes Siebers, CEO and co-founder of Holidu, praised Finca Mallorca for its strong brand with loyal clientele and exceptional catalog, highlighting that the platform boasts some of the most beautiful and exclusive properties in Mallorca. Holidu currently markets around 3,000 properties on the island.

✈ Iberia (including Iberia Express) and Air Europa offer flexibility for date changes, despite intending to operate all scheduled flights except those to Brussels, canceled due to a strike in Belgium. Iberia had to cancel only 26 of 247 programmed flights, sparing long-haul routes. The airlines accommodate changes due to difficulties reaching airports and the blackout in Spain and Portugal. Wings to Claim CEO Carlos Corbalán stated blackout-related disruptions aren't eligible for claims due to the national emergency status.

🛩 Boeing's stock surged over 6% on Wednesday due to better-than-expected first-quarter financial results, featuring an 18% increase in revenue to $19.5 billion, with commercial airplanes sales up 75% and sales of the 737 model soaring by 128%. Despite positive sales, final results remained negative but improved due to the sale of Digital Aviation Solutions. Boeing faces no tariff issues as it produces mostly in non-surcharge zones, although still affected by China's returned airplanes. An important sale in the Far East is anticipated soon.

📣 Plus Ultra said goodbye to its Airbus A340 with a touching video, highlighting its last flight in early April from Barajas, Madrid to Enschede, Netherlands, for dismantling. Hugo Castaño, the first and last pilot, praised the aircraft, known for safety and its pivotal role during the Covid pandemic for cargo transport. Alejandro Casado, Plus Ultra's operations director, celebrated the jet's comfort and security. The A340 EC-MQM served the airline for nearly a decade, marking a significant phase for Plus Ultra.

✈ Iberojet launches a direct route connecting Madrid with Querétaro, Mexico, strengthening tourism, culture, and economic ties. The route will be serviced by their A350s, with Iberojet currently owning two of these modern, long-haul aircraft. This move also aims to boost Travelplan and Catai, major operators within the Ávoris group, in marketing the destination to the Spanish market.
