🇧🇷 Brasil began a promotional campaign in Madrid highlighting its cultural and natural attractions ahead of Fitur 2025, where it's the guest country of honor. Starting on Madrid's EMT buses, the ads will later expand to the Metro and areas like Goya, Velázquez, and Serrano. The campaign coincides with Fitur, from January 22 to 26 at Ifema, aiming to position Brazil as a top tourism destination. Brazil saw a 12% increase in international arrivals in 2024, reaching 6.6 million visitors, the highest since 1970. The campaign targets the European market, particularly Spain, where tourist arrivals are expected to grow 10% by 2025, thanks to expanded air routes. Brazil's Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, believes Fitur 2025 is an excellent opportunity to promote the country's diverse cultural and natural landscapes.

✈ Mexicana de Aviación, once touted by former President Andrés López Obrador as Mexico's aeronautical solution, slashes 8 of its 17 routes, exiting destinations such as Campeche, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, and Ixtapa. Managed by Mexico's Ministry of Defense, the airline fell short of its 3 million passenger target for 2027, ending the year with just 382,000 passengers. In May, the airline will add 20 new Embraer E2 jets. The underperforming Maya Train, recently completing its last phase, fails to attract riders, especially tourists in the Riviera Maya and locals, despite its comparable standard to other rail systems and infrequent services. New routes suspension aligns with President Claudia Sheinbaum's restructuring strategy for the company.

📍 The Vitoria airport in the Basque Country aims to establish a new direct flight to New York. The government led by Imanol Pradales included this goal to position Foronda as a hub for transoceanic and cargo flights. Talks with various airlines are underway to achieve this. A strategic plan has been launched to assess the viability of long-haul routes. The Foronda runway, at 3.5 kilometers, is among Spain's longest. In 2023, the airport set a passenger record with 309,929 users. 🌍 Fiturtechy, the tech section of the International Tourism Trade Fair (Fitur), is celebrating its 17th edition from January 22nd to 24th at Ifema Madrid Pavilion 10. Themed "The Thousand and One Journeys," this event features robotics, cloud technologies, data management, and sustainability as transformation pillars in tourism. Four forums will discuss the impact of technology, sustainability, and innovation on the industry. ✈ Iberia, to maintain flights between Madrid and Santo Domingo, contracted Wamos Air and Iberojet due to fleet shortage from A330 maintenance. The service started on December 18 and will continue until at least December 29. Wamos Air contributes an A330-300 seating 292 passengers, whereas Iberojet provides an A330-900 with a capacity of 310 travelers. Iberia currently operates 9 weekly flights on this route, increasing to 12 in January and planning 10 per week in February and March.
