🍷 The 6th International Wine Tourism Fair (FINE) takes place on March 5-6 in Valladolid with a 22% increase in participating tour operators and travel agencies, totaling 103 professionals from Europe, Asia, America, and Oceania. Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and the US are well-represented among professionals from 26 countries. The event includes around 140 wineries, hotels, and routes, over 50 wine regions, and will feature 2,200 interviews, lectures, roundtables, and workshops. Wine tourism is expected to reach a market value of $332.5 billion by 2034.

📖 Mallorcan hotelier Joan Llull, President of Hipotels, celebrated his 90th birthday by presenting his memoirs at an event attended by top authorities from the Balearic Islands and leading national hotel chain figures in Playa de Palma. His first hotel, the Hipocampo, was built in Cala Millor. The book, with a prologue by Jaume Cladera, the first Tourism Counselor of the Balearics, was unveiled in front of a crowd that included Llull's family and celebrities like Rafa Nadal.

✈ Vueling will add around 30 flights from March 1-8 to assist attendees of the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, occurring March 3-6. Daily additional flights from European cities will range from 1-3, connecting Paris, Munich, Nice, and more. Spanish cities like Alicante and Sevilla will also see more flights. The Fira de Barcelona expects over 101,000 visitors with an economic impact of 540-550 million euros.

🏆 On the first day of FITUR 2025, the Spanish Hotel Directors Association (AEDH) announced the I National Congress of Tourism and Sport scheduled for October 28, 2025, in La Nucía, Sports City. Former national football team coach Vicente del Bosque will be the ambassador. Operator uses the GPT-40 model and works with platforms like Booking.com and OpenTable. It's currently priced at $200 per month for ChatGPT Pro users, with a planned ChatGPT Plus subscription at $20 per month and future expansion to other markets. Operator aims to reduce booking management time and increase sales conversion by offering a more responsive and intuitive interface. The travel sector faces challenges such as technological dependency, traditional travel agency disruption, and data privacy concerns.

🏖️ Fitur 2025 in Madrid welcomed over 255,000 visitors, 155,000 of which were professionals in the first three days. With Brazil as the Partner Country, the fair started on January 22 and featured 9,500 companies and 884 stands from 156 countries, 101 with official representation. The event generated an economic impact of €445 million in Madrid. Globally, tourist arrivals hit 1.4 billion in 2024, with tourism revenues reaching $1.9 trillion; Spain saw €126 billion, and Madrid €16 billion in tourist spending. Fitur 2026 is scheduled for January 21-25, with Mexico as the Partner Country.

🏨 Madrid's stand at Fitur 2025, inspired by the city's plazas, spans 1,848 square meters across two floors. The stand features a Fórmula 1 simulator promoting the upcoming 2026 Spanish Grand Prix and an auditorium with a 6 x 3-meter LED screen seating 150 people. It emphasizes sustainability with a carbon-neutral pledge, using modular metal structures, certified sustainable wood, PVC-free vinyls and adhesives, and LED lighting. Recyclable cardboard furniture and native vegetation, preserved post-event, also underline the stand's commitment to eco-friendly practices.

✈ Ryanair, known for pressuring administrations for low prices, accuses Aena of setting high tariffs at small and medium-sized airports, leading to Ryanair's withdrawal from some small airports in Spain, resulting in the elimination of 800,000 seats. Valladolid airport may lose commercial flights, and Jerez faces a significant reduction. Similar issues affect airports in Polonia, Austria, England, and Wales. Negotiations are sought to find solutions, as the client-provider relationship between Ryanair and Aena deteriorates.
