🏠 In Europe, as of the last quarter of 2024, there are 1,661 hotel projects underway, with 244,464 rooms, 40% of which are under construction. High-category hotels lead with 352 projects and 54,687 rooms, followed by upper-midscale with 322 projects/47,634 rooms, and upscale with 276 projects/43,428 rooms. The UK tops the list with 286 projects/40,305 rooms, Germany with 161 projects/26,461 rooms, and Turkey with 130 projects/19,038 rooms. London has the most developments with 77 hotels/14,820 rooms, followed by Istanbul with 49 projects/7,903 rooms. The five leading countries account for 49% of Europe's hotel projects.

🏨 Eurostars Valladolid, a 5-star hotel, will open in the summer, located on Constitución street, the former site of El Corte Inglés, featuring a Zara store on the ground floor. The hotel will offer 75 rooms, a spa, gym, coworking area, private wine cellar, and restaurant, plus a terrace with a pool and solarium boasting panoramic city views. The design blends classic and avant-garde, inspired by Renaissance forms, with an emphasis on elegant arches and curved structures. Warm woods and tones create a welcoming interior, complemented by soft lighting. Its restaurant will focus on local cuisine with proximity products.

🏖 The Excellence Collection opened the Hotel Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres in Cancún, Mexico, with an investment of $220 million. This resort features 470 rooms and is the sixth property in the Mexican Caribbean for the group, jointly invested by Medieval Times, Zafiro Hotels, and Viva Hotels. Additionally, a new $200 million development in Puerto Morelos is planned. The hotel's opening, led by Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama and CEO Antonio Montaner, is expected to create 3,000 new jobs.

🏡 Hidden Away Hotels expands its portfolio by acquiring the Cavalta Boutique Hotel, a 5-star luxury establishment located in Triana, Seville. Started in 2025, the chain is growing ambitiously with Jorge Jiménez Cordón as the new Development Manager. The Cavalta, affiliated with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, benefits from DLS Investment. It occupies a 20th-century building designed by Ramón Balbuena y Huertas, featuring 12 rooms, a rooftop pool, and the Balbuena y Huertas restaurant. The chain owns six hotels, with plans to open another in Lisbon by spring 2026, and is interested in expanding its luxury apartment buildings. Expansion strategies include lease contracts, management, and special purchase opportunities, targeting cities with year-round tourism and properties fitting their brand.

🏨 Global hotel construction includes approximately 1 million rooms, with half in Asia-Pacific. By 2025, over 524,000 rooms are expected to open, 20% in Europe. Shanghai, London, and Dubai lead in new openings this year. Europe has 171,294 rooms under construction; Asia-Pacific, 511,666 (+4.9%). There will be 106,729 new European rooms and 228,468 in Asia-Pacific in 2025. Middle East and Africa have 104,572 under construction; Americas, 204,270 with an increase of 1.8% from last year.

🏨 Habitus Hotels, led by Chema Herrero, plans to expand to 15 hotels by the end of 2025 from its current eight. The brand introduced its boutique line Amelie with Hotel Luz de Gades in Cádiz and bolstered its presence in Mallorca with three Nura hotels adding 150 rooms. They are innovating with the Amikas brand for tourist apartments in Moraira and Arnedo to cater to travelers’ preference for flexibility. The company emphasizes originality, commitment, technology, profitability, training, and sustainability.

🏖️ Checkin Hotel Group will open the 4-star family resort Bakour Oh Nice Costa del Sol in Benahavís on April 25. The resort features 301 rooms, all-inclusive family offerings, entertainment programs, an outdoor pool, spa, gym, buffet restaurant, and kids' club. Additionally, the group's expansion includes two urban hotels in Granada: the 4-star, 103-room DWO Urban Granada with a gastrobar and event rooms, and the 3-star, 67-room Checkin Urban Nevada with a summer terrace pool. With these openings, Checkin Hotel Group grows to 29 properties, strengthening its industry presence.

🏨 Hyatt acquired three hotels in Tenerife for €120 million from a British fund. Users can access content for free by accepting cookie installation or opt for a cookie-free experience through the Premium Membership, which offers privacy-focused browsing and content access. Premium members manage cookie preferences post-login.

🏨 In Calvià, Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual and Tourism Deputy Mayor Elisa Monserrat announced the Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra project at Fitur. This luxury hotel will elevate Calvià's tourism by attracting high-end, sustainable tourism. Additionally, the Aethos luxury chain will open Hotel Mar i Pins, and a renovated Puro Beach is slated to launch.

🏠 World2Meet (W2M) opened a new boutique under its premium brand Grand Azulmarino in Sevilla's Plaza de la Gavidia, as part of an expansion plan now totaling 19 boutiques across Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valladolid, Zaragoza, Málaga, Valencia, Palma de Mallorca, Murcia, Alicante, Granada, Oviedo, Sevilla, A Coruña, and San Sebastián. Carmen Meleno González will lead the new team, specializing in luxury tailored experiences, aiming to enhance Sevillian customers' travel experience with comfort and personalization.
