Fallece Miguel Frontera, primer presidente de los hoteleros de Sóller

🏥 Miguel Frontera, the first president of the Hoteliers Association of Sóller and father of María Frontera, former president of the Mallorca Hotel Business Federation, passed away at age 90 on Sunday. Born at La Marina hotel in Port de Sóller, he was a pivotal figure in transforming the tourist sector in Sóller. Marga Prohens and Llorenç Galmés, political leaders, expressed their condolences. The wake is scheduled for Monday, April 21, from 16:00 to 18:00, with burial at 19:00 at the parish of San Ramón de Penyafort in Port de Sóller.

La economía de la personalización: una oportunidad de oro aún por explotar

Cincuenta años del hotel emblema del turismo en Altea

🏕 Hotel Cap Negret, founded in 1975 in Altea, celebrates its 50th anniversary as a tourism excellence reference on the Costa Blanca. The hotel, established by inexperienced friends, has become a family and social tourism landmark. Since the Alicante airport opened to international traffic in 1967, the region has transformed economically. The hotel underwent a major refurbishment in 2020 and shifted towards international sports tourism, notably cycling, with its Bike Zone, since 2015. An anniversary event was held on April 11, attended by tourism representatives, local authorities, and founders' families.

Ashotel cifra en el 10% el seguimiento de la huelga en Tenerife

🏨 Ashotel, the hotel association in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, reported about 10% participation in the tourism strike, compared to the 70% claimed by unions. The strike, surveyed among over a hundred member hotels, saw 11% in Tenerife, 1% in La Palma, 9% on April 17, and 6% on April 18 in La Gomera. In Tenerife, the south had 11% on Thursday and 10% on Friday, the north 11% and 14%, and the metropolitan area 5% and 11%. Ashotel's manager expressed willingness to negotiate despite withdrawing the previous offer, which included a 6% wage increase and other benefits. No date is set for new negotiations.

Navegando hacia el brillante futuro del transporte marítimo de pasajeros

🚢 Elena Seco García-Valdecasas, directora general de la Asociación de Navieros Españoles (ANAVE), declares maritime transport moves over 80% of international trade, emitting less than 3% of global GHG emissions, which is 11% of the transport sector's total. ANAVE has invested nearly €2 billion in emission reduction and energy efficiency technologies, cutting over 500,000 tons of CO2 annually. In 2024, 28 million travelers used ferries at Spanish ports, a 3% increase over the previous year. The investment of €450 million by 2030 is aimed to electrify docks for ferries, cruise ships, and containers at 48 state-owned ports, potentially creating over 1,000 jobs. The Grimaldi Terminal in Barcelona launched an OPS in March 2025, supplying 100% renewable electricity to ferries and cutting emissions and noise. The ferry passenger traffic between Barcelona and the Balearic Islands increased from 852,000 in 2019 to 1.223 million in 2024.

The Loft House crece y abre en Sevilla, su tercer destino

🏗️ The Loft House Group opened The Loft House Sevilla, their third premium hostel and first in Andalusia, located on Sierpes Street, Sevilla. With a capacity of 70 beds across 11 private, mixed, and female rooms, it features a specialty coffee bar, local pastries, coworking space with mute labs, and a fully equipped kitchen. The Sevilla hostel opened on April 7. The expansion plan includes new hostels in the Basque Country and the Valencian Community.
