✈️ Air Europa, Spain's fifth-largest and Madrid's second-largest airline in capacity and routes, abandoned a merger with Iberia after IAG withdrew its acquisition attempt on August 1, due to the European Directorate-General for Competition's high demands. The two largest Spanish operators, with significant overlap on 72% (39 of 53) of their routes, including 14 national and 25 international, now compete head-to-head. Mundiplan, launching its second tourism season for seniors, now offers international outings across four continents: Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia. Ryanair was ordered by the European Commission to repay Germany approximately €14 million for receiving illegal state aid through the Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, which must also return €1.25 million.

Cómo afronta Grecia el turismo de masas: medidas para reducir su impacto

🏖️ Grecia, con turismo aportando 19% al PIB y empleando a 800,000 personas, recibió más de 32 millones de visitantes en 2023. El gobierno griego, liderado por el primer ministro Kyriakos Mitsotakis, implementará impuestos sobre alquileres turísticos, hoteles y alojamientos de abril a octubre del próximo año. Los ingresos se destinarán a infraestructura local. En Atenas, se prohíben nuevos alquileres turísticos por un año y se introducirá una tarifa de 20 euros por turista en cruceros en Santorini y Mikonos en temporada alta. La construcción en la caldera de Santorini se suspenderá para protegerla.

Las reservas hoteleras se animan para otoño e invierno

🏨 During the week of September 2-8, hotel bookings in Spain for stays 90 days ahead surged, with 16% of hotel bookings compared to 11% a year ago. Couples made up 56% of bookings; groups 22%, and families 6%. Top destinations were Catalonia (18%), Andalusia (17%), Canary Islands (15.7%), and Balearic Islands (13%), with Madrid, Basque Country, and Murcia seeing significant growth of 34%, 58%, and 78%, respectively.

MSC nombra nueva presidenta para los cruceros de lujo Explora Journeys

🚢 Anna Nash has been appointed as the new president of MSC's luxury cruise brand, Explora Journeys. With over two decades of ultra-luxury hospitality experience, she will report to Pierfrancesco Vago, the MSC Cruise Division's Executive Chairman. Nash previously held roles at Aman, including Commercial Director, as well as Marketing Director and Communication Director. She brings expertise from her former positions at Rosewood Hotels and Orient-Express to the newly created role at MSC. Explora Journeys is expanding its fleet with Explora II launching this week, and four more ships are set to enter service between 2026 and 2028.

Trabajo ofrece bonificar los contratos a las pymes para reducir la jornada

📈 El Ministerio de Trabajo y Economía Social de España, junto con CCOO, UGT, CEOE y Cepyme, han iniciado negociaciones para reducir la jornada laboral a 37,5 horas semanales. El Estado propone bonificaciones para nuevas contrataciones indefinidas de pymes de hasta 10 empleados, que representan 1.300.000 empresas y emplean a 3,5 millones de personas. La próxima reunión está prevista para el 19 de septiembre. El sector turístico, predominantemente pymes, enfrentaría un coste de 2.348 millones de euros anuales con dicha reducción.

La tasa turística para cruceristas de Barcelona se ha multiplicado por tres

eDreams, Logitravel y eBooking lideran el ranking de las OTA en España
