El Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra abrirá en el segundo trimestre de 2025

🏡 Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, acquired by Blasson Property in November 2021, is set to open in Mallorca's second quarter of 2025. The resort, initially scheduled to launch this year, postponed its full luxury renovation completion to the second half of 2024. It will offer 131 rooms including 44 suites and nine bungalows by the sea in Costa d’en Blanes (Calviá). Currently, 18 job vacancies are available, ranging from finance to engineering and marketing. This will be the brand's first European resort and third in Spain, joining Madrid and Barcelona.

Ferrer Hotels incoporará un nuevo hotel en Mallorca

🏨 Ferrer Hotels will manage a new 4-star asset with 163 rooms in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Mallorca, starting in the 2026 season, after renovations to meet the group's standards. The hotel, first of the chain in the municipality, is located 5 minutes from the sea and features a gym, pools, and a pool bar. Currently, Ferrer Hotels operates 6 assets in Mallorca and Menorca, with Alejandro Coll as the Director of Expansion since January. The other part of the Hotel Mariant Park complex will remain under the Pascual Femenías family.

Barcelona recaudará 100 M€ con la tasa turística en 2024

🏠 Barcelona aims to collect €100 million in 2024 with the Tourist Stay Tax (IEET). The municipal surcharge on this tax will increase by €0.75, reaching €4, effective October 1, 2024. Rates per night will be €7.5 for 5-star hotels, €5.7 for 4-star, €6.25 for tourist apartments, €5 for other establishments, €6 for cruises over 12 hours, and €7 for cruises under 12 hours. Since 2012, Barcelona has raised €253 million with the tourist tax, with €115 million for the municipality and €55 million from the surcharge in less than two years. The funds finance city services impacted by tourism and projects like festivals and educational center air conditioning.

Jaime Batle: “No podemos decir que el turismo nos sobra”

🏨 Jaime Batle, founder of Mar Hotels and Majestic Resorts, reflects on tourism evolution in Mallorca and Spain. Batle started with Autocares Batle in 1956 and ventured into hospitality in the 1970s due to British and Scandinavian tour operators' encouragement. Los gastos de gestión por cancelación son del 6,20%, y hay tarifas de cancelación escalonadas desde el 5% al 100% del precio, dependiendo de la antelación de la cancelación.
