Barcelona: la tasa turística es “un agravio comparativo respecto a otras ciudades”

  • Alex Cuenca
  • 25 April 2025
🚧 The Catalan business community opposes the increase in the tourist tax in Barcelona. Foment de Treball's tourism committee president, Miquel Gotanegra, expressed firm rejection and criticized the lack of constructive dialogue from the government. They demand a comprehensive economic report to assess the impact on both the tourism sector and visitor economy, warning that the measure could disadvantage residents who travel within Catalonia. The organization seeks transparency on tax revenue allocation and believes funds should enhance tourism quality and sustainability.

Boeing, ante el reto de reasignar los aviones rechazados por China

  • Alex Cuenca
  • 24 April 2025
🛫 Boeing reassigns up to 50 planes originally sold to Chinese airlines due to a US-China trade war with tariffs of 125% on planes by China in response to 145% by the US. CEO Kelly Ortberg is negotiating with international clients to acquire these aircrafts, including 41 in production and 9 scheduled for the year. Despite the China setback, Boeing plans to increase 737 Max production to 38 units per month due to strong global demand.

“Es difícil recuperar a los profesionales que se fueron por la pandemia”

  • Alex Cuenca
  • 24 April 2025
📍 César Gutiérrez, presidente of Fetave, opposes the burdensome documentation registry for travel agencies, particularly impacting small businesses, with compliance being impracticable. Fetave filed a formal complaint with the European Commission in January 2023. No official notification from the Spanish Government or meetings held post-consultation period. Challenges include data protection, internal management, and operational strain, with many agencies struggling with RD 933's requirements. The market's growing consolidation, led by dominant players like VECI, Ávoris, W2M, and Travel Live, raises competition concerns, while financing options for vacations are increasingly popular for maintaining quality of life. The sector's personnel shortage persists post-pandemic, with a need for training and better working conditions. Despite external economic factors, optimism remains for 2025, with expected consolidation after surpassing pre-pandemic levels in 2023 and 2024.

Masoquismo en Tenerife, Barcelona y Mallorca

  • Redaccion Preferente
  • 24 April 2025
🏖 Tenerife faces unprecedented labor absenteeism with its first major sector protest in 47 years. Barcelona, still recovering from recent challenges, imposes up to €100/day traveler surcharge. Baleares, amidst a housing crisis and saturation perceptions, regularizes 90,000 lodging places within its 500,000 home inventory. These tourist powerhouses risk damaging their own economies and future prosperity by disregarding traveler satisfaction, service sufficiency, and infrastructure capacities.

¿Cuál es la diferencia entre factoring y confirming?

  • Samuel Cristobal
  • 24 April 2025
💰 Factoring vs. confirming: two financial tools aiding business liquidity management; factoring sells invoices for immediate cash and reduced default risk, while confirming advances payment to suppliers via financial entities. Factoring may or may not transfer default risk, depending on recourse or non-recourse agreements. Confirming improves supplier relations but doesn't provide immediate funds to the company; it offers better payment conditions and flexibility without capital depletion. Both services include fees and interests, impacting cash flow and cost responsibility. Effective management requires fiscal management software or ERP systems to accurately reflect these transactions in accounting.

“Los nuevos pliegos del Imserso incluyen sorpresas kafkianas”

  • Miguel Praga
  • 23 April 2025
🏨 La Mesa del Turismo urges the Spanish Government for immediate action on key issues like Aena's airport network deficiencies, new Imserso tender complications, and rampant labor absenteeism in tourism. They highlight the urgent need for airport infrastructure expansion in Málaga, Alicante, Valencia, and Barcelona, noting Madrid-Barajas has a 25% growth capacity. Also, they demand increased compensation for hotels and travel agencies from the Imserso program due to unsustainable costs and low remuneration of 21-23 euros not covering expenses. The organization also seeks to address absenteeism with CEOE and the Ministry of Labor by suggesting that mutual insurance doctors manage sick leave. Additionally, they point out that 90% of tourists in Spain are concentrated in six regions, totaling 84.6 million visitors, while the remaining 11 regions share 9.2 million tourists.

Viajes del Imserso: mano dura tras los incumplimientos de Ávoris

  • Miguel Praga
  • 23 April 2025
🛫 Imserso, Spain's senior tourism program, penalizes Turismo Social (Ávoris) with a potential fine of up to €80 million for bid inflation and irregularities. New contracts impose stricter sanctions, including fines on 100% of turnover, five times higher than previous ones, and penalties between €1.5 million and €80 million. Adjudicators must submit documentation shortly after winning the contract; failure to comply risks a €6 million fine and contract loss. Key changes include separate adjudication of coastal and island lots and enhanced oversight. Results are expected by early June.
