🏨 Alda Hotels announced four new openings in 2024, bringing their total to 17 in Pontevedra, A Coruña, Lugo, Zaragoza, Toledo, Segovia, and Navarra. This expansion included 11 new locations, with Alda El Espinar in Segovia being a highlight. The 3-star hotel in El Espinar features 66 rooms. Avila remains the only province without an Alda property in the Castilla y León community.

🏨 Riu Hotels & Resorts opened the Riu Plaza Chicago, its fifth urban hotel in the United States and 11th worldwide. The 4-star Riu Plaza Chicago has 28 floors, 390 rooms, and is located in Chicago's Magnificent Mile. The Rooftop, offering panoramic views from the 27th floor, is set to open in September. Additionally, Riu is expanding with a hotel under construction in Toronto and has acquired land on Broadway in New York for a third hotel.

🏨 Portugal experienced a 19.2% increase in foreign tourists in 2023, reaching 25.6 million. The robust tourism sector has led to over 11,000 hotel rooms currently under construction or planning. Lisbon leads with 4,635 rooms in the pipeline, 73.2% of which are already being built. The tourism sector added 137,706 jobs in June, surpassing 2.9 million employees, a 5% increase from June 2023, and representing 13.6% of the total workforce. Notably, Canary Islands, Madrid, and Andalusia saw the highest job increases. David Doral, CEO of Dovetail Electric Aviation, revealed Spain's first hydrogen-powered electric aviation power plant, aiming for commercial flights with passengers by 2026, seeking an additional €5 million in capital.

🏠 Limehome, the tourist apartment chain, will launch 19 apartments in a refurbished old pension in Pamplona's center by summer 2025. The company is managing the short-stay project from asset search and technical analysis to collaborating with property owners on quality selection and design. Ricardo Fernández, general manager for Spain and Portugal, highlights the brand's regional expansion and contribution to Navarra's economic and tourism growth.

📅 Iberia will start flying its first A321XLR between Madrid and Boston on November 14, 2024, and to Washington DC from January 15, 2025, six times a week. The aircraft, part of an eight-plane Airbus order by IAG, can cover distances up to 8,000 kilometers and has 182 seats in business and economy class. The first unit is expected after summer, with more to follow, featuring amenities like spacious overhead bins and modern cabin lighting.

🏖️ Estimar Hotels recently opened Estimar Marina Farnals, located on the beachfront of Pobla de Farnals with a Blue Flag distinction. The hotel features 130 rooms, including 10 junior "sweet" with coastal views, a central pool, gym, event space, and two dining options: LÚA Bar & Restaurant and the rooftop AURA Views & Drinks. Emphasizing sustainability, it uses materials like oak wood, esparto, and ceramic, and predominantly Mediterranean native plant species for landscaping. Estimar Hotels plans to open Estimar Benicasim in Castellón in 2025.

✈ Salerno-Costa de Amalfi Airport opened in Campania, southern Italy, with three airlines operating, including Volotea, Easyjet, and Ryanair. Inaugurated by Infrastructure and Transport Minister Mateo Salvini, the airport welcomed its first commercial flight from Milan Malpensa. The airport connects Salerno, Sorrento Peninsula's southern coast, and Basilicata region. Integrated with Naples Capodichino Airport's management system, the project took 20 years from inception to launch.

🏠 Parador de Molina de Aragón in Guadalajara set to open on September 5, following the construction's completion. Initiated after a devastating fire in 2005, which killed 11 and burned over 13,000 hectares, the total investment exceeds 22 million euros, adding 24 rooms, bar-café, dining areas, convention rooms for 300-500 people, social lounges, event terrace, spa, gardens, and parking for 60 vehicles on a 7,000 square meter building within a 42,000 square meter plot. The Parador will be the 98th in the network and aims to boost tourism, economy, and employment.
