🏨 Fergus Group, under Mallorcan entrepreneur Pep Cañellas, announced the acquisition of Palma Beach Hotel, Playa de Palma, set to become the fifth hotel in Mallorca's largest tourist area. It will undergo repositioning to a 4-star superior category, reopening in spring 2026 as Fergus Style Palma Beach. The hotel will feature over 120 rooms, including suites with private jacuzzis and solariums. The group’s portfolio includes Fergus Hotels, tent Hotels, and Affiliated by Fergus, summing up to 18,442 beds. The hotel will operate under Affiliated by Fergus for the 2025 season.

🏖 H10 Hotels unveils H10 Horizons Collection, encompassing three 5-star vacation establishments in Spain: Tenerife's H10 Atlantic Sunset Horizons Collection, Lanzarote's H10 Rubicón Horizons Collection, and Gran Canaria's H10 Playa Meloneras Horizons Collection. These resorts focus on creating memorable experiences under the slogan "Donde empiezan los recuerdos". Each resort features a Despacio Spa Centre, exclusive Privilege areas, dining options, and family or adult-only zones.

🏨 Fergus Group will incorporate a 120-room hotel into its portfolio, the Palma Beach Hotel, to be rebranded as the 4-star superior Fergus Style Palma Beach in 2026. Owned by Mallorcan entrepreneur Pep Cañellas, the hotel will undergo a significant repositioning process and will reopen in spring 2026, joining Fergus Hotels' most exclusive premium line. The Group operates four other hotels in the same area, and with the addition of Palma Beach Hotel, it reaches 30 hotels with a total of 8,182 rooms, 16 of which are in Mallorca, providing 5,152 rooms.

🏕 The new luxury Hotel Aqaba Cabo de Gata, inspired by the film "Lawrence of Arabia," will open this year with 54 rooms and suites. Located in Carboneras' urban center, 500 meters from the beach, 30 minutes from Almería International Airport and future AVE station in Vera. Funded by Andalusian entrepreneurs, the project exceeds a €10 million investment. The hotel emphasizes "slow life," local culture, and eco-friendly practices. Guests can enjoy unique geological tours, rooftop Mediterranean views, and local gastronomy. Architect Antonio Martínez Rodríguez and Arapiles Arquitectos designed the hotel, with Palm Studio handling the interior. Opening is set for December.

🏨 Palladium Hotel Group will launch a new luxury brand, The Unexpected Hotels, this summer in Ibiza by transforming part of Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel. The Ushuaïa Tower will be remodeled into The Unexpected Ibiza Hotel with 181 renovated rooms. The Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel will continue operating with 234 rooms. Last April, Palladium presented The Unexpected Al Marjan Island Hotel & Residences in the UAE, a $100+ million project with 422 rooms. The brand will debut in Ibiza in 2025 and in Al Marjan Island in 2026.

🏨 B&B Hotels opened its second hotel in Tarragona, Valls, marking its 14th in Catalonia. The B&B Hotel Tarragona Valls features 83 double and triple rooms, offering free high-speed Wi-Fi, breakfast buffet, coffee and hot drinks, air conditioning, LCD TV with Chromecast, and indoor and outdoor parking. Lucia Méndez-Bonito, CEO of B&B HOTELS Spain and Portugal, highlights a growth strategy focused on Spain and Portugal, including acquisitions and new developments. The company recently opened its 15th hotel in the Community of Madrid and now has 57 hotels in Spain, 17 in Portugal, exceeding 5,000 rooms, with 20 more hotels under construction.

🏨 In tourism news, the “150+ Influential” list by Sergestur, to be presented on January 22nd at Fitur 2025, highlights more female leadership and young talent in the industry. Magic Costa Blanca and Grupo Fuertes plan an 80 million euro investment in Valencia, including Magic Pirates Island and two hotel transformations. Accor is set to open three new hotels in Madrid in 2025, adding 509 rooms under ibis brands in strategic locations like Valdebebas, Las Tablas, and Albasanz.

🏖️ Checkin Hotel Group launches 5-star Bakour Punta Cana Suites in Cabeza de Toro, Punta Cana, aiming to open on February 1st. The resort features 42 rooms, 130 apartments, all-inclusive service, a large outdoor pool, gym, SPA & Wellness center, and is Checkin's 25th establishment. Since 2013, the Spanish chain has managed 24 hotels with over 2,700 rooms, with plans to expand further.

🏖️ Marruecos registered a historic 14.5 million visitors in 2023, a 34% increase from the previous year. In 2024, foreign tourists accounted for 8.8 million (23% increase) and Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) reached 8.6 million (17% increase from 2023). Compared to pre-pandemic 2019, travelers to Morocco in 2024 saw a 35% increase. Marruecos is now positioned as an essential tourist destination and the top destination in Africa.

Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual reports a 20% increase in low-season hotel beds to 3,331, despite a 30% drop in complementary sector sales in 2024.
