Binter, gran ganadora de los recortes de Ryanair

  • Redaccion Preferente
  • 3 September 2025
✈ Ryanair, in winter 2025, will cancel all flights to Tenerife Norte. The decision affects routes to Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid, Palma, Sevilla, and Valencia, and follows the closure of its Santiago base due to rising Aena airport fees. The cuts include a 41% regional airport reduction in Spain, affecting 600,000 seats, and a 10% cut in the Canary Islands, removing 400,000 seats. Spain will lose 2 million seats annually. Binter and Vueling will continue serving these routes.

Vueling o Volotea dan la razón a Ryanair

  • Redaccion Preferente
  • 2 September 2025
✈ Ryanair's withdrawal from regional airports in Valladolid, Jerez, Vigo, Santiago, Asturias, Santander, and Zaragoza is not being offset by airlines like Vueling or Volotea. Aena's failure to attract replacements highlights the need for incentives to operate profitably. Economies of scale allow Ryanair to offer competitive prices. Aena's reluctance to reduce fees is a key factor, alongside the need for more attractive tourism offerings. Political and business leaders must innovate to harness the region's tourism potential.

  • 1 September 2025
📈 Ramon Borrell, former CEO of Selenta, faces charges from 2018 for administration disloyalty and business corruption. The accusations include receiving €605,000 from Iron Global for the Princesa Sofía hotel renovation, which saw costs rise by €2 million in five months. Prosecutors seek a 13-year sentence. Borrell also allegedly received €1 million from a Nobu hotel project, but returned the money. He claims price changes were justified and regrets his abrupt departure without compensation.

Más viajeros pero menos días: la clave del 2025

  • Redaccion Preferente
  • 29 August 2025
🏠 In 2025, Spain sees a shift in tourism trends with travelers now averaging 5-day stays due to rising hotel prices. This has led to increased airport traffic but stable overnight stays. In the Balearic Islands, despite a surge in hotel tariffs by 30% and restaurant prices, tourist spending has decreased significantly, with some businesses reporting a 30% drop in revenue compared to 2024. As a result, tourism-related expenses have shifted towards essentials like accommodations.

Air Europa y otras sustentadas por hoteles

  • Redaccion Preferente
  • 28 August 2025
✈ Juan José Hidalgo stated that a pandemic forced the sale of three hotels, enabling Globalia to remain the majority shareholder of Air Europa, alongside Turkish Airlines and Iberia (IAG). Turkish Airlines agreed to purchase 26% of Air Europa for €300 million. Hotels support major airlines like Air Europa, Iberojet, and World2fly. Iberia and Vueling benefit from economies of scale and synergies under Qatar's control, improving fleet purchases, fuel conditions, and technology investments.

Hidalgo: consejero para Turkish pero no para Iberia

  • Redaccion Preferente
  • 27 August 2025
📈 Juan José Hidalgo, president of Globalia, has offered Turkish Airlines a position on Air Europa’s board, which currently has five members, without Turkish requesting it. This move, announced in 2024, contrasts with typical corporate practices where major shareholders demand board seats. IAG, which owns 20% of Air Europa, is uncertain about future capital increases. Turkish Airlines is set to become the second-largest shareholder with a 27% stake, potentially fueling conflicts due to disparate treatment.

Los canarios pierden sus ferries ante un fiel de Pedro Sánchez

  • Redaccion Preferente
  • 26 August 2025
🛳️ Baleària, led by Adolfo Utor, has acquired Armas Trasmediterranea for €210 million, surpassing a local Canary Islands bid by over €50 million. This acquisition includes 15 ferries, 1,500 employees, and control of crucial routes between the Canary Islands, Alboran, and part of the Strait. Despite debt from JP Morgan, Barings, Cheyne Capital, and Bain Capital, Utor's political ties may face challenges if Spain's political landscape shifts, with competition authorities scrutinizing the process.

Mallorca-Estambul, deseo ante Air Europa-Turkish

  • Redaccion Preferente
  • 23 August 2025
🛩 Mallorca, amidst pandemic challenges, launched its first direct flight to New York with United Airlines. However, Palma's airport lacks a connection to major Middle Eastern hubs. Málaga, in contrast, boasts regular flights to Doha, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul, Riyadh, and Kuwait City. Establishing a route from Mallorca to Istanbul, the world's most internationally connected airport, could be strategic, especially with Turkish Airlines' investment in Air Europa. This move could enhance connectivity between Mallorca and Asia.
