🏨 Meliá Hotels International, first international hotel in 1985, Meliá Bali, now operates over 58,800 rooms worldwide. Cuba, with over 14,200 rooms after Spain, is their top destination, with first Cuban hotel, Sol Palmeras, opened in Varadero in 1990. From 2023 to 2024, six hotels launched. Vietnam follows with over 6,200 rooms since 1999 starting with Meliá Hanoi; Germany ranks third with 4,341 rooms; top five include Croatia, Bulgaria. Minor Hotels Europe & America owns 44,640 rooms outside Spain under NH Hotel Group, with Germany holding 45% across 24 cities. Italy and the Netherlands follow with 8,662 and 6,780 rooms respectively. Barceló Hotel Group's largest presence is in the U.S., plus 9,113 rooms in Mexico, planning €500 million for growth and asset repositioning by 2025, focusing on the U.S. and Mexico, and over 4,100 rooms in the Dominican Republic. Riu Hotels & Resorts' top market outside Spain is Mexico with 13,053 rooms, making up a quarter of their portfolio, followed by Cabo Verde with 4,650 rooms, the Dominican Republic with 4,393, Jamaica with 4,274, and Morocco with 2,259.
