Destinos turísticos del siglo XXI: la gestión de la complejidad

  • Automatic
  • 7 March 2025
🏖️ In 2024, Spain hit record tourist arrivals and faces challenges like public space saturation and environmental impacts. San Sebastián capped guided tours at 25 people and fines for non-compliance range from 750 to 1,500 euros. Barcelona allocated 44 million euros over three years to manage "Espacios de Gran Afluencia". In Calvià, jet ski circuits were discarded for sustainability. Andalucía led Europe's vacation rental bookings in 2023 with over 35 million overnight stays. Spain's online vacation rental offerings surged 16% to nearly 400,000 properties, providing 1.99 million beds. Legal control of these rentals will be tested in 2025 with the EU's Digital Reporting Portal, applicable from May 20, 2026. Lastly, only Cataluña and Baleares apply tourist overnight stay taxes in Spain, and climate change impacts like droughts and floods are increasingly challenging tourism sustainability.

W2M: El mercado alemán ve a España con cierta preocupación por los precios

  • Automatic
  • 6 March 2025
💰 After a strong early booking period for Mediterranean destinations, the German market has seen a slowdown in the past four weeks, with reservations for Spain, particularly in July and August, being affected by high prices. A 2% growth in the German market is considered satisfactory due to its maturity and stability. The trend towards higher prices for lower occupancy in hotels and the competition from more affordable destinations like Turkey are influencing booking behaviors. Additionally, online package sales are growing, and market consolidation, including Dertour's acquisition of Hotelplan, is making market analysis challenging. Spain remains costly for the peak summer season, while Turkey is becoming more competitive. Popular German destinations include Mallorca, Costa del Sol, and the Canary Islands in winter. W2M, part of Grupo Iberostar, has made a significant commitment to the German market, evident at ITB Berlin, where they were a prominent sponsor. Gabriel Subías, CEO of the group, reports double-digit growth in the German market for their Bedbank division.
