Daño a largo plazo

  • Miguel Praga
  • 9 February 2025
📌 A Spanish government proposal to reduce working hours is politically favorable but could have long-term negative effects, particularly in the tourism sector, where productivity has been stagnant. Collective bargaining is suggested as a better approach to worker quality of life without damaging economic competitiveness. The legislation's potential side effects include wage imbalances and unrealistic general applicability. Despite tourism business owners' concerns, the government aims for voter appeal, with possible future consequences.

🛂 Destinia is preparing a lawsuit against Booking.com for trademark infringement and unfair competition, alleging that Booking is using their brand to mislead consumers across 20 countries. This activity has significantly impacted Destinia's travel distribution business. The lawsuit is based on notarial deeds from each market where the violation occurred, under Law 17/2001 regulating trademarks. Booking.com is accused of bidding on Google Ads for Destinia's name, leading to a sponsored link that redirects users to Booking.com, which Destinia's director general, Fernández Flores, deems illegal.

It was dissolved on December 6, 2020, one month after the Spanish Government granted a €475 million bailout to Air Europa in November 2020. Founded in 1996, the society aimed to reduce tax burdens in Spain, capitalizing on Panama's fiscal benefits. Globalia also operates Intertravel SARL in tax-favorable Luxembourg, managing income from Dominican Republic and Mexican hotel entrepreneurs.

They coordinated strategies with MEPs Borja Giménez Larraz and Elena Nevado del Campo amid a European Commission investigation prompted by a complaint from MEP Dolors Montserrat.
