Los controladores acusan a Ryanair de mentir con los retrasos

  • Miguel Praga
  • 13 September 2024
🛫 Spanish air traffic controllers accuse Ryanair of lying about flight delays, citing that the majority of flights operate on time despite a controller shortage and many regulations. They highlighted recent incidents at Asturias Airport where two Ryanair flights from London and Brussels were delayed by 15 minutes and over an hour, respectively, allegedly due to crew overactivity, not air traffic control. Tight scheduling between flights is a further cause of delays, with takeoff slots automated by Eurocontrol.

Meetings with both in Madrid and San Petersburgo cited as evidence. Hidalgo, nervous in court, redirects mask flight procurement blame to Commercial Director, implicating Air Europa advisor Víctor de Aldama in ongoing judicial investigations. Hidalgo's high-profile legal and PR teams suggest independent action from him post-testimony. The "mask case" appears minor against the backdrop of the urgent Air Europa rescue, with testimonies and accusations causing internal controversy.

  • Alex Cuenca
  • 13 September 2024
💸 Over 30,000 west coast workers in the United States started a strike against Boeing today after 95% rejected the company's latest labor agreement proposal. Boeing had offered a 25% salary increase until 2027, a $3,000 bonus, and pledged to build its next commercial plane in the Seattle area if the program began within the next four years. Workers, represented by the IAM union, demanded a 40% raise, leading to a production halt in Seattle and Portland plants. The strike's end will be evaluated "day by day, week by week," with Boeing facing challenges including a recent $160 million compensation to Alaska Airlines and efforts to rebuild trust after incidents, including those involving the Boeing 737 MAX 9.

Madrid ultima los detalles de su golpe a las viviendas turísticas

  • Alex Cuenca
  • 12 September 2024
🏨 Madrid is set to implement new regulations targeting the disruption caused by tourist apartments. The regional Government Council has reviewed the draft decree, which will undergo public scrutiny. Service providers, instead of owners, must now submit responsible declarations to start operations. Local councils will decide on the compatibility of such accommodations with residential use. Public housing and community-restricted properties are barred from tourist use. Madrid will increase inspectors from 16 to 33. Mayor José Luis Martínez Almeida announced fines will increase 30-fold, with non-compliers facing €30,000 penalties, up from €1,000. Currently, out of 13,502 tourist apartments listed in Madrid, only 1,008 are licensed.

Javier Hidalgo comparece este jueves en la Audiencia Nacional

  • Redaccion Preferente
  • 12 September 2024
📅 Javier Hidalgo, ex CEO of Globalia, testifies as a witness in the National Court on Thursday in the 'Koldo case' to clarify his meetings with Begoña Gómez, wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, regarding the rescue of Air Europa. The Fiscalía and magistrate Ismael Moreno initially rejected taking his declaration, but Penal Court found it necessary last July. Globalia allegedly hired Víctor de Aldama for his influence in the Ministry of Transport, paying him €10,000 monthly for advisory services and a suspected commission of at least €5.5 million related to health contracts. Aldama's involvement dates back to at least September 2019, to assist Air Europa in recovering up to $200 million from Venezuela.
