Plus Ultra: “La ruptura entre Iberia y Air Europa no nos afecta”

🏁 Plus Ultra airline, led by Julio Martínez, plans to expand its fleet from six to ten Airbus A330 by 2026. The carrier has surpassed its previous year's revenue in the first nine months and expects positive year-end results. It collaborates with Sata and Rainbow and will renew these partnerships, adding a second aircraft in Poland next season. Plus Ultra operates in over 200 airports globally and will introduce Buenos Aires as a new destination in October 2025, aiming for daily flights to Cartagena, Bogotá, and Lima.

Crisis de los A320: Iberia asume el chequeo de los motores

🛩 Iberia Mantenimiento has begun offering complete overhauls of Pratt & Whitney GTF engines to address the crisis affecting hundreds of Airbus A320 aircraft. Operations will be conducted at La Muñoza, near Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas International Airport. The firm has increased its mechanics staff and equipped its test bench with specific adapters for the GTF model. Vueling, part of IAG with Iberia, will ground 29 A320 aircraft, a quarter of its fleet. Globally, approximately 650 A320 family aircraft will be grounded in early 2024, with an additional 350 expected yearly in 2025 and 2026.

Ávoris infló su oferta de transporte para hacerse con el Imserso

🛫 Ávoris won a public tender to manage Imserso trips, but faces penalties for alleged breaches. For coastal trips (Lot 1), it fulfilled only 54.34% (326,880) of promised plane and train seats, instead of 601,588, leading to 44.81% of pensioners traveling by bus, against the proposed 11%. In interior tourism (Lot 3), it delivered just 30.5% (105,490) of transport seats, versus the promised 345,858. Additionally, Ávoris underdelivered on hotel quality, providing only 3.6 million 4-star stays out of 6.4 million promised, and executed just 2.5% (142,955) of single-use double room stays, despite promising 5.6 million. This resulted in scores of 97.43/100 for Lot 1, 100/100 for Lot 2, and 97.82/100 for Lot 3.

Preacuerdo para acabar con la huelga de 35 días en Boeing

🚨 Boeing's union and management have reached an agreement to end a five-week strike, pending a vote by the 33,000 workers involved. The agreement includes a 35% wage increase over the contract period, which is 10 percentage points higher than the initial company offer. However, pension plan contributions lost during the protest will not be recovered. Boeing, facing severe financial issues, needs to rapidly seek liquidity and could require an estimated $55 billion due to lost revenue, military aviation losses, commercial aviation disasters, and the urgent purchase of Spirit, which builds the 737 fuselage—a model Boeing needs to make profitable again soon.

Play de Islandia cambia de modelo por las pérdidas

Iberia aplaza el estreno mundial del Airbus A321XLR

✈ Iberia postpones the world commercial debut of the Airbus A321XLR to November 1, transitioning from Madrid-London to Madrid-Paris. The first flight, IB585, departs Madrid at 08:00, returning from Paris Charles de Gaulle as IB586 at 11:45. Long-haul operations begin November 14 with Madrid-Boston, taking 8 hours and 25 minutes, thrice weekly plus an A330 flight. Washington DC follows on January 15, 2025, with six weekly flights. Asiana volará con el A380 a Barcelona por el ‘Mobile’

✈ Asiana Airlines, South Korea's second-largest airline, now owned by Korean Air, will operate its Airbus A380, the world's largest commercial aircraft seating 495 passengers, on flights to Barcelona from March 2 to 7, 2023. This temporary switch from the more modern but smaller A350 is in concurrence with the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and ITB travel trade show in Berlin. Previously, Emirates also flew the A380 to Barcelona, extending its use past an initial three-month period earlier in the year.
