✈ Lilium, a German group listed on the New York Stock Exchange, is facing financial collapse with both subsidiaries, Llilum Oberpfaffenhofen and Lilium eAircraft, in debt and under administration. Founded in Baviera in 2015 with 500 aerospace engineers, Lilium experienced a postponed electric aircraft flight and aims to start deliveries in 2026 with 780 orders. Saudia ordered 100 units, a Florida airline bought 20, and Lufthansa secured agreements. Public subsidies from France and Germany have not materialized, impeding private investment, as a crucial €100 million from Germany failed to arrive.

Gasta 250 mil pero vuela por 21 millones de dólares

  • Miguel Praga

🚀 Steven Rothstein, at age 21, purchased an unlimited first-class travel AAirpass from American Airlines for $250,000 in the early 1980s, with an additional $150,000 for companion tickets. Over 21 years, Rothstein's travels amounted to 10,000 flights and $21 million in costs to the airline, covering 30 million miles. In 1994, with 28 of the original 60 AAirpass holders still using it, American Airlines canceled the program. Rothstein was sued after American revoked his pass in 2008, leading to an undisclosed settlement due to allegations of booking flights under fake names.

¡Upsss!, Francia frena su ecologismo

💰 Michel Barnier, the new French Prime Minister, aims to collect an additional €1 billion annually from airlines operating in France, intended to reduce aviation pollution, not as a revenue measure. However, due to civil unrest over economic conditions in French overseas territories like Martinique and Guadeloupe in the Caribbean, and separate issues in New Caledonia and Reunion, the French government suggests not applying the new flight taxes to these regions, implicating a possible preferential treatment for travel within French territories.

Llamamiento de Putin para que otros países hagan vuelos dentro de Rusia

  • Miguel Praga

🚀 Western sanctions on Russian aviation prevent flights to Europe or the US and access to aircraft and spare parts, significantly affecting Russia's domestic flight offerings. The Russian aerospace industry cannot meet the existing demand for new aircraft. Russia invites airlines from friendly nations to operate within its territory, with offers extended to Kazakhstan and other countries. Kazakhstan's Air Astana, owned by British aerospace firm BAE, adheres to the embargo and has ceased flights to Russia. Kazakh airline Scat is taking advantage of the situation by increasing flights in Russia despite having a small fleet.

Easyjet ofrece más de 200.000 euros a los nuevos pilotos

  • Miguel Praga
  • 24 October 2024
✈ Easyjet is offering over €200,000 as a starting salary for pilots at Gatwick Airport to compete with its rival, British Airways. The demand for pilots increased post-pandemic due to an unexpected recovery in tourism and travel, requiring airlines to expand their schedules. The shortage has been exacerbated because pilot training was halted during the pandemic, leading to a salary war in London, particularly at Gatwick Airport, where Easyjet leads and British Airways operates primarily long-haul flights from Heathrow. British Airways, through its subsidiary EuroFlyer, offers lower salaries but with promotion prospects outside of Gatwick.
