Ryanair: revés judicial por cobrar el equipaje de mano

  • Miguel Praga
  • 2 December 2024
🛫 In February 2023, Ryanair was ordered by the Court of First Instance No. 6 in Cádiz to refund €116 for extra hand luggage charges to a passenger. The passenger, advised by Ryanair, paid €71.98 for hand luggage on a Sevilla to Vitoria flight and another €44 for checked luggage on the return. Consumer organization Facua, after an unaddressed complaint to Ryanair, filed a lawsuit demanding the return of €115.98. The court ruled the luggage was within cabin limits, making the fee unjustified. This follows government fines totaling €179 million on airlines, with Ryanair paying €107.8 million, for similar irregularities.

Wizz Air, the Hungarian airline, is also interested but faces delays as part of its fleet undergoes Pratt & Whitney engine checks. Analysts predict a lucrative market following peace due to a tourism boom and Ukrainian returnees, alongside an influx for country reconstruction. Michael O’Leary of Ryanair visited Kiev in July last year, ready to reopen bases in Kiev and Lviv, contingent on peace assurances.

Un Boeing 737 de Tui rozó la tragedia en cielos ingleses

  • Miguel Praga
  • 2 December 2024
🛬 On October 17, 2023, a Tui Boeing 737-8K5 with 187 passengers departed at 6 AM from Manchester Airport to the Greek island of Kos. Shortly after takeoff, pilots were alerted to a serious incident: two vital air purge systems were offline, preventing pressurization, likely due to maintenance oversight. The plane, too heavy to land, circled to burn fuel. Crew failed to instruct passengers to use oxygen masks, risking hypoxia. The exhausted pilot, awake since 1 AM, safely landed the plane at 8:10 AM after over two hours. Three days later, the same aircraft veered off the runway in Leeds in an unrelated incident.

China compra cien aviones para ‘su’ aerolínea en Europa

  • Miguel Praga
  • 1 December 2024
🛩 Hungary Airlines, based in Budapest, has acquired 100 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. The deal was signed by CEO Duan Bo and Boeing in China. The airline's strategy is unclear as the 737 Max's range only covers Western China, which has limited commercial value in Europe. Additionally, the Hungarian market alone may not justify the fleet size, suggesting a potential hub strategy for European flights. Regulatory challenges include disguising 51% of the airline's capital to appear European. 🛩️
