En defensa de Boeing

  • Miguel Praga
  • 1 January 2025
✈️ The Boeing 737 800, with a 30-year track record and 4,400 units serving around 200 airlines, has had only 17 fatal accidents, often attributed to human error in maintenance or operation. In 2024 alone, this model completed 5.9 million flights without any incidents. Given these statistics, the plane is generally considered safe, despite the recent accident in Muan, Korea, which has prompted an investigation into potential aircraft failure as well as an order for inspections of all Boeing 737-800s in the country.

Corea ordena inspeccionar todos los Boeing 737-800 del país

  • Miguel Praga
  • 31 December 2024
💡 South Korea faces a deep political crisis, leading the Transport Minister to temporarily hold office. On this backdrop, the country's decision to inspect over one hundred Boeing 737 800s was made yesterday after learning of another Jeju aircraft experiencing a similar problem as the crashed one, though it landed safely. The news led to Boeing's stock price falling, yet no structural failures of the aircraft are indicated despite it being in operation for 25 years and making up 15% of the world's operational aircraft. No evidence explains the Jeju Airlines incident. Other Korean operators of this model include T'way, Jin, Eastar Jet, Air Incheon, and Korean, with 39 of the aircraft belonging to Jeju. The emotional tension in Korea is high as most passengers were locals.
