📌 Acquisition of Dit Gestión by Ávoris, initially planned for 2024, is delayed by CNMC's request for more information. Ávoris aims to exceed 3,000 sales outlets in Spain, but faces scrutiny over Unida's 2021 integration and a pending €324,000 cartel fine from 2016. Dit Gestión assures freedom from liabilities. If successful, Ávoris will incorporate Spain's leading management group with 800 agencies, pushing its portfolio beyond 3,000, adding to its brands like Halcón Viajes and B travel.

El desafío del hotelero al margen de las OTAs

  • Miguel Praga
  • 1 January 2025
📲 Two youngsters from the same neighborhood purchased the same hotel room for the same day using different phones; one with Android, the other with Apple. The Apple user was charged more, demonstrating "price discrimination" based on the assumption that iPhone users are willing to pay more. This practice is common in transport and tourism, leveraging algorithms to maximize profits from customers' willingness to pay, preferences, and habits. Large portals like Booking have an advantage by knowing customer profiles, unlike individual hotels, and can optimize prices for their benefit, often taking significant commissions. With new regulations, hoteliers will assess what Booking offers versus what they can achieve independently. This presents a challenge, especially for smaller hoteliers, in the competitive online bed-selling market.
