Vueling, Volotea y Air Nostrum, candidatas a cubrir el vacío de Ryanair

  • Miguel Praga
  • 20 January 2025
✈ Aena launched a commercial offensive to cover the gap left by Ryanair's cut of over 800,000 seats in regional airports, a move announced by CEO Eddie Wilson on January 16. Aena engaged with Vueling, Volotea, Air Nostrum, and Binter to mitigate the impact. Ryanair will cease operations in Jerez and Valladolid, remove one aircraft from Santiago, and reduce traffic by 61% in Vigo, 28% in Santiago, 20% in Zaragoza, 11% in Asturias, and 5% in Santander. Ryanair blames Aena for not incentivizing airlines to use regional airports' unused capacity.

Aena-Ryanair: dos lecturas

  • Miguel Praga
  • 20 January 2025
✈ Ryanair, known for pressuring administrations for low prices, accuses Aena of setting high tariffs at small and medium-sized airports, leading to Ryanair's withdrawal from some small airports in Spain, resulting in the elimination of 800,000 seats. Valladolid airport may lose commercial flights, and Jerez faces a significant reduction. Similar issues affect airports in Polonia, Austria, England, and Wales. Negotiations are sought to find solutions, as the client-provider relationship between Ryanair and Aena deteriorates.

Kioto dispara el impuesto al turismo para reducir visitas

  • Miguel Praga
  • 19 January 2025
🏖 Kioto, Japan, targets a reduction in tourist numbers by imposing a steep tourist tax of up to 60 euros per night starting in March 2026. The tax varies depending on the hotel category, with lower-priced accommodations paying less. Despite aiming to curb tourism saturation, Japan saw 35 million tourists last year and paradoxically has a goal of 60 million visitors. Tourist tax rates: rooms renting for 124-310 euros will pay 6.20 euros, up to 620 euros will pay 24 euros, and over 620 euros will incur a 62 euro tax.

Fracaso total de Rusia con la producción de aviones propios

  • Miguel Praga
  • 19 January 2025
📍 Western sanctions have led Russia to aim for 1,000 new aircraft by 2030. However, plans are faltering with only 7 out of 24 engines for the MS21 expected by 2025, suggesting aircraft delays. The Sukhoi Superjet's production forecast for this year has been reduced from 72 to 50 units. S7 Airlines reports unusual yearly maintenance requirements for these engines, as tests reveal typical new product faults and the TCAS system, 12 years in development, remains uncertified, grounding potential flights.
