🛫 Charles Cartier is no longer leading Air Mauritius as of this Thursday, with a trio of directors taking over amidst chaos, including accusations, resignations, and various anomalies. The airline is facing internal divisions, political battles, consistent aircraft malfunctions, delays, cancellations, and frequent luggage losses. Air Mauritius, publicly owned and operating to 30 destinations with a fleet of 10 planes, including four Airbus A330 and A350 each, survived bankruptcy during the pandemic with public aid. IAG owns 10% of the airline. 🛫 Italian tourism newspapers publish a monthly calendar of transport strikes affecting trains, coaches, urban buses, controllers, pilots, ground staff, and other aviation workers. Strikes are usually not catastrophic, with short durations and the country continuing to function. On Wednesday, strikes involved ground staff at Malpensa, Fiumicino, Naples, Catania, and Venice airports. Additionally, a fire at Ciampino's control tower in Rome, evacuated and suspending flights, worsened the situation. Ryanair is the main operator at Ciampino. Milan and Lombardy trains stopped for 24 hours. Baggage handlers' mobilization significantly impacted Wizz Air, Easyjet, and Ryanair, with ITA advising travelers of potential flight stoppages.
