Initially earning around €1,800 monthly, the first cohorts of Iryo's Italian company now make about €3,300, including bonuses and allowances. Barcelona: diez mil pisos vuelven al alquiler normal

  • Miguel Praga
  • 19 March 2025
🏖 The Tribunal Constitucional upheld a decree allowing Catalan municipalities to not renew tourist rental licenses in 2028. Barcelona's tourist apartment licenses require renewal in November 2028, and the current city council aims to deny renewals, affecting 10,000 legal tourist apartments. The Partido Popular challenged the regional rule but lost; it limits licenses to 10% of resident flats for five-year terms, renewable. This measure is among the most radical against tourist apartments, with only New York implementing similar prohibitions. France allows municipalities to limit rentals to a few weeks per year.

La discriminación de precios también puede ser burlada

  • Miguel Praga

🚀 Hotels and airlines adapt prices according to customer payment capabilities. Clients from wealthier countries use VPNs to simulate connections from different locations for lower prices. In the U.S., customers from high-income areas like Silicon Valley encountered prices 71% higher than those in Phoenix, Arizona, as stated by computer magazine specialist Sam Singleton of PCWorld. Northern European airlines offer cheaper flights for Spanish customers, while some Spanish airlines provide lower business class fares for flights booked in Tunisia or through a Tunisian IP than from France or most European countries.

Air Europa resolverá los problemas de flota este verano

  • Miguel Praga
  • 19 March 2025
✈ Air Europa, facing fleet issues since last year, frequently subcontracted Iberojet, Wamos Air, Plus Ultra, and Privilege to maintain operations. Management, seeking a financial partner, expects to resolve these issues by summer, potentially with Air France-KLM or Lufthansa's involvement. They anticipate incorporating three new Boeing 787 Dreamliners and reinstating grounded models due to Rolls-Royce engine issues. The airline plans to increase flights to America between mid-June and September, with daily Madrid flights to Medellín, Asunción, La Habana, Panamá, and New York, and multiple weekly flights to Cancún, Punta Cana, Córdoba, and Salvador de Bahía.

Palo y zanahoria europeas en los viajes

  • Miguel Praga
  • 18 March 2025
🛈 On the day the EU planned to cut compensation rights for travelers facing flight delays or cancellations, police arrested several individuals for allegedly bribing MEPs to influence their votes. Current EU regulations mandate compensation after 3-hour delays, potentially extending to 5, 9, or 12 hours based on flight distance. Fixed compensations of €300 for flights delayed over 3 hours are criticized for being unfair to those who paid less for tickets, suggesting refunds should be five times the ticket price. Amidst these changes favoring airlines, travel agencies and tour operators face protests over ambiguous responsibilities for travel service anomalies.

El ministro Bustinduy tiene otra ideílla

  • Miguel Praga
  • 18 March 2025
📖 Pablo Bustinduy, Spain's Minister of Consumption, criticized for misunderstanding the digital and commercial world, plans to alter algorithms to prevent companies from exploiting situations of need. Digital companies charge based on customer's ability to pay; Bustinduy questions if this is fair, drawing parallels to personal experiences with low-cost flights and luxury accommodations during the pandemic. Concerns arise that his ideas may create significant complications without clear resolutions.

Lufthansa volará sus 787 con varios asientos siempre vacíos

  • Miguel Praga
  • 17 March 2025
✈ Lufthansa faced financial losses last year due to an outdated fleet and delays in new aircraft service entry. The airline is working on introducing Allegris business class seats, which are already installed on some A350 units but not yet certified for the 787. With summer service in mind, Lufthansa considers flying the 787s with some new seats unoccupied to circumvent certification delays. Carsten Spohr, the group's CEO, cited ongoing manufacturer bottlenecks expected to last through the decade. Of the 45 Boeing aircraft meant to be operational last year, 15 are 787s now starting to be delivered. Lufthansa cautiously anticipates flying some of these planes in summer with blocked seats and expects 26 new aircraft this year.
