El plan de Ávoris para disparar ingresos fuera de temporada

  • Miguel Praga
  • 7 April 2025
🌍 Ávoris targets off-peak travel to counter revenue dips, extending spring and autumn offerings for year-round availability at travel agencies. Following a "very positive" 2024, Ávoris aims for 2025 growth with new products, destinations, and extended seasons, including earlier Cuba and Punta Cana operations and additional Iberojet flights to Cancún. Sales anticipation for summer is higher than the previous year, with more than a 10% increase compared to 2024. The 2025 Ebitda budget for Ávoris' product division, including Iberojet, is set at €44.6 million, aiming to double the €20.2 million from 2024 and surpass the pre-pandemic €33.3 million mark of 2019.

Islandia: la Laguna Azul, evacuada por invasión de lava volcánica

  • Miguel Praga
  • 6 April 2025
🌋 In southwest Iceland, the famous Blue Lagoon was evacuated and closed due to the eighth eruption in 12 months of the Sundhnúkagígar volcano near Grindavik, following earthquakes on April 1. The most serious eruption yet, causing severe problems on the Reykjanes Peninsula, led to the closure of all access roads to the Blue Lagoon, though flights at Keflavik Airport operate normally. Reykjanes had been dormant for eight centuries until volcanic activity resumed in March 2021. Iceland has 33 active volcanic systems situated on a fault dividing the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.

Confirmado: Renfe frena su expansión en Francia

  • Miguel Praga
  • 6 April 2025
🚂 Renfe, the Spanish rail operator, suspended its expansion in France, cancelling the Toulouse-Barcelona route planned for 2024. The decision follows difficulties and delays in launching high-speed services in France. Announced in October 2024, the route would have included stops in Carcassonne and Perpignan. Renfe's strategy in France is under review, amidst complaints of non-authorization allegedly protecting French railways, despite Italian railways operating similar routes. Existing operations between Madrid-Marseille and Barcelona-Lyon remain unchanged.

Luz verde a Luton, de Aena, para crecer de 19 a 32 millones de pasajeros

  • Miguel Praga
  • 5 April 2025
✈ The British Labour government approved the expansion of London's Luton Airport, managed by Spanish firm Aena, to increase its capacity from 19 million to 32 million passengers annually. This comes despite environmental concerns and contrary to Urban Planning inspectors' advice. The expansion includes a new terminal to maximize the existing runway's potential. London Luton Airport Operations Limited, owned by Aena and investor fund InfraBridge, operates the airport. Nearby Vauxhall van factory, a major employer, announced its closure leading to 1,100 job losses. Aena's Alberto Martín welcomes the approval, predicting £1.5 billion in economic boost and 11,000 new jobs. Negotiations for the expansion terms are underway.

  • 5 April 2025
📌 The new hotel association in the Canary Islands, formed to counteract Ashotel's inaction, has recently apologized to the Tenerife hotel employers' association president Jorge Marichal. Initially, the association, backed by national and international hotel chains, criticized Ashotel's direction. However, they have now retracted their statements, blamed for cowardice, and created a division between local and foreign business interests. Key figures in Tenerife's tourism like Puig, Riu, Kiessling, Escarrer, and others are recognized as the pioneers of tourism in the region, despite the presence of controversial characters among them.

  • 4 April 2025
🛫 Air Europa was found non-compliant regarding carry-on baggage regulations after Sitcpla's June complaint, as confirmed by a favorable Inspección de Trabajo resolution. The airline lacks a heavy baggage filter at the cabin door on 787 and 737 flights, violating risk prevention laws. Air Europa must ensure proper control and supervision during check-in and boarding, as well as establish a written procedure for cabin carry-on baggage weight control. The Sitcpla union highlighted the increase in injuries among cabin crew due to overloading, with many not recognized as work accidents.

El accidente de la española Swiftair en Lituania, culpa de los pilotos

  • Miguel Praga
  • 4 April 2025
🚨 On November 25, a Swiftair Spanish cargo 737 crashed near Vilnius Airport, Lithuania, killing the Spanish pilot and injuring the co-pilot and two passengers on board. Despite initial suspicions of Russian interference, the Lithuanian authority's 30-page report attributed the crash to human error, with no external factors involved. The hydraulic system B was off, the flaps were not deployed, and the anti-icing system was inactive. The aircraft was undamaged before the crash, which also led to a fire. Swiftair has a history of air incidents, with the worst in terms of human casualties occurring in Africa.

El yerno de Hidalgo se doctora con Morante de padrino

  • Miguel Praga
  • 4 April 2025
🐎 Javier Blanco, yerno of Air Europa owner Juan José Hidalgo, takes the bullfighter's alternative in Moralzarzal, Madrid, celebrating the town's bullring's 20th anniversary. Blanco, a quiet individual, left the bullring in 2006 to work for Hidalgo's Globalia Group, eventually leading the hotel division. Despite the break from bullfighting, he still participated in festivals. His return to the ring is notable not just for the 20-year hiatus, but at 42 years old (turning 43 in July), he's joining bullfighting stars José Antonio Morante de la Puebla and Alejandro Talavante. The event, likely to sell out, is also remarkable for Blanco's familial ties and the media attention it garners.
