🛫 Air Europa seeks partners to settle a debt due in 2026 by selling 20% of the company, without giving up control. Family Hidalgo, owning 80%, wants €240 million from the sale and a €235 million loan to pay off €475 million SEPI debt. Air France-KLM and Lufthansa are interested buyers, with Société Générale and PJT Partners as advisors. Negotiations stalled due to the Hidalgos' refusal to relinquish majority ownership.

La última pelea de Puente que hunde a los aeropuertos más ruinosos

  • Juan Mestre
  • 25 January 2025
🛫 Ryanair has cut 800,000 seats and eliminated 12 routes in Spain, impacting airports with minimal air traffic, sometimes labeled "ghost airports." The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, refuses to meet with Ryanair until they restore suspended and reduced services. Aena, managing 46 airports in Spain, insists airport taxes are fair, despite 32 of them spending more than they earn, and 5 handling fewer than 30 passengers daily. Madrid, Barcelona, Balearic and Canary Island airports remain profitable, contrasting with Huesca Airport's average of one passenger per day.

La ‘okupación’ se convierte en una amenaza real para los hoteleros

  • Juan Mestre
  • 18 January 2025
🏠 In Mallorca, the 'okupation' problem has escalated at Sol y Mar aparthotel, with squatters claiming residence since November and demanding up to €300,000 from property owners for evacuation. Intervention by law enforcement is restricted after 48 hours of occupation, and court eviction orders can take an average of two years. Other Spanish locations, like the Four Seasons' project in Marbella and Valencia's former Hotel del Saler, face similar issues. In contrast, European countries like Italy and Germany have stricter laws, facilitating quicker evictions. Spain, however, extended a moratorium covering squatters, with only PNV proposing a law reform for faster trials within 15 days.

Los ‘okupas’ ya tienen en su punto de mira hoteles cerrados en Mallorca

  • Juan Mestre
  • 15 January 2025
🏡 In Mallorca, 'okupas' targeted the closed Sol y Mar apartment in Cala Bona, leading to tensions. The Son Servera Local Police found roughly 30 occupants, including women and children, who had forced entry, stolen items, and caused significant damage. The squatters, claiming residence for over a month with food receipts, cited Spanish law protection against eviction without a court order. A desokupación company managed building access, allowing only property exits, sparking further tension. The apartment owner faced accusations of changing locks and cutting utilities.
