Madrid: un family office adquiere el Hotel Room Mate Alba por 32 M€

🏡 Cushman & Wakefield advised a family office on the acquisition of the four-star Hotel Room Mate Alba, located in Madrid's historic Barrio de las Letras on Huertas street. The hotel, inaugurated in 2019, features 80 double rooms, a breakfast bar, a meeting room, and a gym. The interior was designed by Lorenzo Castillo. The transaction demonstrates the "Hotel-Madrid" combination as a safe investment, according to Víctor López-Peña of Cushman & Wakefield Spain. The deal was for €32 million.

Lanzarote: un juez exige cumplir la orden de demolición de un hotel de 2005

🏨 A judge has ordered the partial demolition of a hotel in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, with a standing demolition order since 2005, for violating urban planning regulations and exceeding thrice the allowed building size. The Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands queried Mayor Oscar Noda regarding the non-execution of the sentence against Son Bou hotel. Mayor Noda indicated he must inform the property before executing the demolition project.

Tenerife: un hotel de la edad de oro del turismo espera la demolición

🏨 The Hotel Neptuno, operational since the 1960s and a pioneer in Tenerife's tourism industry, faces imminent demolition by the La Laguna municipality, due to the building's risk of collapse. The demolition will cost 400,000 euros, to be charged to the property owners. The hotel, named after the sea god, hosted tourists from Nordic countries, Germany, and America during its golden age in the 60s and 70s, before its gradual decline.

Meliá invertirá 20 M€ en reformar uno de sus hoteles en Fuerteventura

🏨 In Fuerteventura, the Pájara Town Hall approved licenses for Meliá and Banca March to invest €20 million to renovate the Meliá Fuerteventura (formerly Hotel Los Gorriones). The investment will modernize the facilities and create over 150 direct jobs, also tripling the housing for workers. This follows a year after Meliá's joint venture with Banca March to co-own three hotels, a strategy previously used with Bankinter in 2021.

Riu crea un departamento de compras sostenibles

🏖️ RIU Hotels & Resorts approved new sustainability and supplier policies, updating past policies from 2011, 2012, 2014, and January 2024. Aiming for a responsible, ethical, and sustainable operation, the policies cover environmental, social, governance (ESG) commitments beyond legal obligations. A new Sustainable Purchasing Department will oversee sourcing from sustainable and controlled conditions. Annual policy reviews will adapt to business or contextual changes, with RIU operating in 21 countries and committed to transparently reporting progress.
