“Vendemos con precaución a Volotea por su delicada situación ”

  • Alex Cuenca
  • 25 February 2025
📌 Jon Arriaga, president of Dit Gestión, affirms that despite Volotea's delicate economic situation, associated agencies continue to sell its flights, citing the airline's good performance in the low-cost segment. In 2024, Dit Gestión experienced growth in sales and consolidation, against economic challenges. Their number of associated agencies has increased moderately, with a significant boost in the Portuguese market. Pre-COVID levels of advance bookings have returned, even surpassing 2023, with many travel packages for Summer and Easter already closed. Spanish citizens are increasingly resorting to deferred payment systems and loans for travel. Despite a precarious economy, Dit Gestión anticipates another strong year of sales for agencies in 2025, although with concerns over low profit margins for travel agents.

La alternativa de Elon Musk para sustituir los vuelos cortos

  • Alex Cuenca
  • 24 February 2025
🏫 Elon Musk aims to compete with airlines for short-distance trips with Hyperloop, a high-speed train, according to the EU registry. On September 11, 2024, Hyperloop representatives met with Pablo Fábregas Martínez, discussing technology that could use less energy than high-speed trains and replace more polluting transport forms like short-haul flights. Hyperloop capsules travel in low-air-pressure tubes at speeds up to 1,500 km/h and could significantly cut travel times for distances up to 1,500 kilometers. Ferrovial in Spain noted that Hyperloop's open-source design by Musk and SpaceX invites multiple companies to contribute.

  • 23 February 2025
💰 Imserso's social tourism program will undergo a price review next season, announced by director María Teresa Sancho at the CEOE Tourism Council meeting. Prices during the 2024/2025 season ranged from €124.68 for four-day stays in provincial capitals to €435.95 for ten-day stays in the Canary Islands with transport. This comes six months after the CFM Leap-1A engine model's approval, first launched by Iberia on November 6. Commercial operation of the new aircraft is expected to start by the end of the year. Christian Scherer of Airbus highlighted the A321XLR's "game-changing" potential in new markets, especially on transatlantic routes. The A321XLR has a two-class capacity of 182 passengers, can cover distances up to 8,700 kilometers, and offers a 30% fuel saving per passenger compared to previous generation models. Two units have been delivered—one to Iberia, another to Aer Lingus—of the over 500 aircraft ordered.

Las obras en el aeropuerto de Palma indignan a pasajeros y trabajadores

  • Alex Cuenca
  • 21 February 2025
🛫 The Palma de Mallorca Airport's expansion and modernization have sparked complaints from travelers and workers, led to Balearic government intervention, and may result in labor mobilizations before Easter. Passengers face confusion and delays due to security checkpoint and boarding gate reorganization, reduced terminal services, and increased noise and dust. Workers, affected by space relocation and poor preventive measures, are at risk, with inadequate ventilation and rest areas. The government demands Aena review labor conditions and implement necessary safety measures. Key improvements include a new security filter area, direct aircraft access via walkways, and better vehicle and parking access.
