Sin noticias de los cruceros por el Mar Rojo

  • Automatic
  • 24 October 2024
🌊 Red Sea cruises were halted in October 2023 due to the outbreak of war in Israel. Shipping companies, upon inquiry by HOSTELTUR several months later, projected a return in November 2024. However, with the approach of the date and ongoing aggression towards ships in the region, the situation has worsened. Approximately 240 Houthi rebel attacks in Yemen have cut maritime traffic by 75% over the past year. As a result, numerous vessels, including cruise ships, now reroute around Africa, leading to silence and discouragement among cruise operators regarding the short to medium-term prospects in the Red Sea. If the conflict ended today, the earliest potential resumption of Red Sea cruises would be 2026, factoring in at least one year for docking contracts and additional time for route planning and operations.

Las tres noticias más importantes del sector turístico, 23 de octubre

  • Automatic
  • 23 October 2024
📌 Partido Popular (PP) presented a Proposition No de Ley (PNL) to indefinitely postpone the traveler data registry mandated by Royal Decree 933/2021, fearing it will not pass after being presented on Tuesday and set for a vote on Wednesday. The PP argues the regulation is unnecessary, burdensome for tourists, could prolong check-in processes, and negatively impact Spain's tourism image. In other news, Lonely Planet's "Best in Travel 2025" includes Palma de Mallorca as one of the top global cities to visit. Meanwhile, sovereign and institutional funds are increasingly investing in Spain's hotel market, indicating a quality, albeit more expensive, market environment.

Registro de datos: el PP teme que la PNL no salga adelante

  • Automatic
  • 23 October 2024
🛈 The Spanish Parliament fears that the legislative proposal (PNL) will not succeed due to opposition from various parliamentary groups. The PP party criticizes the government for disregarding the chambers' decisions and highlights the tourism sector's significant unrest caused by a Royal Decree (RD 933/2021). The PP requested appearances by the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez Ruiz, and the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez Grau, on Wednesday. They contend the RD is unnecessary, as it demands excessive information from tourists, causing distrust and potential damage to Spain's international tourism image. The PP alleges that the RD could transform hotel receptionists and travel agents into law enforcers, further complicating check-in processes and harming business operations.

Inversión hotelera: es el turno de los fondos con visión a largo plazo

  • Automatic
  • 23 October 2024
🏨 Javier Arús from Azora participated in a panel discussing "Hotels as an investment asset: trends" at the Hospitality Real Estate Forum by Planner Exhibitions. The Spanish hotel investment market attracts long-term investors like sovereign and institutional funds, positioning Spain as a top choice in Europe. Nicolas Cousin of Christie & Co and Montse Rius of HIP highlighted the shift to long-term capital with the entry of sovereign funds. The sector's resilience to inflation and adverse cycles makes it more attractive for institutional portfolios, as seen in France, which is gaining momentum compared to the office segment. The transition represents a natural evolution from private equity to longer-term capital from sovereign funds and family offices, focusing on the vacation accommodation segment due to growing global tourism demand. The availability of capital is increasing, with diverse investors, including non-Spanish and non-bank financiers, strengthening the investor market. The trend towards long-term investment by pension funds and insurance companies is seen as a positive direction for the sector.

Registro de reservas: merma de productividad y desgaste ante el cliente

  • Automatic
  • 23 October 2024
🛈 Spanish travel agencies face a potential decrease in productivity and legal uncertainty due to the data-gathering requirements of RD 933/2021. As of December 2, they will need to collect over 40 pieces of data for lodging reservations and over 80 for vehicle rentals, including sensitive information. The industry suggests a Ministerial Order to limit the data scope, fearing Spain could lose competitiveness as a tourist destination. Agencies may have to explain new data collection requirements to clients empathetically.
